This was the first time I've watched a tv show and literally was on the edge of my seat yelling at the tv screen, my wife thought I was going crazy!

Looks like the first actual episode created without the involvement of Frank Derabont, and unlike the Season 1 finale it did both: 1) Something that wasn't originally done in the comic books, the attack on the farm; 2) Not shitting all over the source material. I'm impressed, pleased and newly enthusiast for the next season. Hope they won't fuck it up again.

That's an AWESOME point - the first half of season 2 was NOT as good as the last three episodes, and it seems like those are the ones where they took the story away from Darabont

Ya gotta think though....next season is....16 episodes? That's a LOT of time for characters to come on to each other, get killed by walkers, get raped and murdered, and get shot by invaders.

I would not be surprised if Season 3 ends with only Rick, Carl, Maggie, Glenn, Andrea, Daryl, and Michonne surviving.

THIS^^

The show is slightly different that the comic but it is still following along a similar path. While the show never picked up Tyreese, they do have T-Dogg... Daryal is new but I think Knize is right. By the end of season 3 we will have our cast cut to the current numbers above with a few new people added (to be killed or loved later)....

Plus Meryle is most likely coming back and the governor

Plus on the Talking Dead, Kirkman was asked a question if we will see Meryle, Morgan or Dewayne this next season. Kirman said we will see 33% of the those people next year....

I finally got to watched this yesterday and I loved it. Besides everything that you guys have mentioned, here are some other stuff that made me happy:

1. I'm glad the cars finally ran out of gas. It was getting a bit too cushy with those around.
2. Rick FINALLY found his balls. I've been waiting two seasons for this.
3. With the liberties the show has been taking, I was worried that they were actually going to kill off Andrea. I'm glad they used that instead for Michonne's intro.

It's a shame they're going to lose a character like Shane who had so much intensity, but it had to happen sometime.

And as for Lori, I didn't like her in the comic and I don't like her in the show. I just hate her character in general. I'll be counting down the days until her demise.

I was scared about Andrea too, she's awesome and better stick around for the long haul. Totally with you on Lori, although she did start to grow on me in the comics after having the baby. I do remember being gutted about what happened to her...damn I'm dying to read the books again now.

We're only up to the early episodes of season 2 here but one thing is standing out to me big time. I'm sure this has been discussed before but I think Kirkman made a massive error in killing off Shane so early in the comic - his being around presents so much opportunity for drama and complexity to Rick's relationship with his wife, etc. By killing him off Kirkman missed out on a lot of that which, obviously, is being picked up in the show. So far I quite like the differences between the comic and the show and the new characters.

The show did some pretty cool things with Shane, but I don't know if I'd say Kirkman made a mistake by killing him. Shane's death in the comic was a wake up call to the readers that - 1. Trust no one, 2. No one is safe, and 3. "Good" and "bad" are all relative now. I think it gave the reader a continuing sense of doubt regarding what exactly would happen with these characters that you don't find often with comics.

I read an interview somewhere of Kirkman saying he regrets killing Shane off so early now. He said he could have explored the love triangle a lot more. At the time he said he wasn't sure if the series would last so that's part of why he killed him when he did.

I think it worked out good in the end. Shane's death in the comics was an important moment for an unknown new series so I dunno if changing that would have been good for the book at the time. As a fan, the show has given me a nice little taste of what things would have been like if Shane lived longer. I'm content with that.

The final episode of season 2 just aired over here this last week. I think now that they're up to you guys they're planning to pretty much show season 3 at the same time as the States which is good.

Just responding to a couple of your points there D-Rock:

1. While I'm glad this happened too I actually don't think it's too big a problem if you can find other vehicles. There really should be a pretty long term supply of "gas" (we call it petrol) if you can find cars, don't you think?
2. Hell yeah and everyone's reactions to that annoy the shit out of me. I don't mind that as it's good writing.
3. Yep, I was worried about Andrea too - glad she survived.
4. Agree about Shane too but his death was inevitable. Unless he left the group he always had to die.
5. Agree about Lori too. She's just really freaking annoying.

A few comments (and I'm sure other people have probably made them):

6. I think Carl might have to die. First of all because he annoys the shit out of me. Secondly because I think they're going to have a Walt from Lost issue with him. He's going to grow too fast for the time that's elapsing in the show.
7. I love the Daryl character - such a fan. I'm glad they brought that character in.
8. I'm liking that it's so different from the show. I'm only up to volume 4 of the trades so sooner or later it's going to pass me but I'm not too worried that will spoil things.
9. The last few episodes were brilliant.
10. That episode where they let the walkers out of the barn - that whole scene - I sat there stunned watching that. Then the final episode - I have to admit I was choking back tears for Hershel in that episode. I just really felt for him.
11. Glen!!! Such great casting.

Anyway, I think it did go around in circles a bit at times this second season but I feel at the end they got it all right.

Just finished watching season 2. Love this series. all the surprises. was sad when Sophia's fate was finally revealed. And I almost cheered when Shane got his comeuppance. hated that character. freaking pyschotic dick. Was also sad to see Dale go out the way he did. Dale was one of my favorite characters. Andrea got on my nerves for most of the season, probably because she kept siding (and had sex) with Shane. She was somewhat more sympathetic in the last episode.
