I love that there's no beating around the bush, Phoenix is well on it's way! Also, I know many people don't like JRJR's art lately, but this may be some of his best work in awhile.

That is definitely his best work in ages! Wonder who the inker is because, although I know they've worked together a lot, I'm not sure Klaus Janson did him any favours with his work on Avengers.

It reminded me that when he worked on Spider-man way back in the day he was actually pretty good

Ah when I was a young lad I absolutely loved his work on Uncanny X-Men and Spider-Man (we're talking early 80s here). Loved it!

Marvel's FAQ to retailers:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=37165

You're always saying these events change everything, but I'm understandably a bit jaded. Is everything going to be undone here? What's the payoff?

- When "Avengers VS X-Men" ends, the Marvel Universe will be a different place and the ramifications of certain actions by our major characters sets the tone for our new Marvel Universe.

- This is the most seismic shift at Marvel in a decade and one that all stems from the events of "Avengers VS X-Men". The new and lapsed readers we're targeting for this event will most definitely stick around for what comes next.

Hmm "new" Marvel Universe...?

For that to occur, continuity would need to have existed already. This is Marvel after all. :P

Ha, I knew if I showed enough interest in the X-books they'd change something.

I can't say that I am excited about Bendis taking over the X-men books. Hopefully that means just one of them maybe two, but not all of them

I think him being in control of all of the Avengers books took away a lot of my interest.

Can't say I'm surprised. I think a lot of us were suspecting something like this. Surely he'd move from one franchise to another and it's either X-Men or Spider-Man.

It was my guess that he was going to do that, I am just really glad it wasn't Spider-man, Slott is amazing, and I don't mind Bendis on Spider-man I just don't need him writing USM and 616 SM

I'm a big fan of his overall Avengers run the last few years. The quality has dipped a bit the last year or so but it's still an all-time great Avengers run imo. Civil War got me back into comics, but Bendis's Avengers is what kept me coming back. It got me and so many others caring about the Avengers franchise again. If he does end up on X-Men, I'd be very interested to see what he does with it. Could be great for him to have a fresh start on a big book. He's done some limited work with the X-Men but what he has done has been great, House of M was his best event pound for pound if you ask me.

On a side note, I wonder if Bendis isn't taking on some kind of editorial role or some kind of creative officer role. He's said in an interview that he's both excited and scared about his post-Avengers work...not sure if just taking over X-Men would have that affect on him.

I don't mind his Avengers, I really love his New Avengers, but vanilla has not done anything for me in a long time. The whole talking heads issues were just awful I thought, was nothing but bored with them. Overall Yes he did a good job with them but over time it just got boring for me.

So wait. He'll be taking over ALL of the X-men books? Doesn't Jason Aaron do Wolverine and the X-Men? I thought people liked him on that book.

This. Personally, despite my weariness with comics in general, I find his style to be especially tiring. I don't know. On one hand, this could mean some attention can be paid to some of the lesser known characters (*cough* Prodigy *cough* give him spider-powers if you have to *cough*) buuuut, that could also mean attention paid to a character I could not care for and have said character jammed down my throat for years on end (why does Jessica Jones exist? I mean, why why why why? But I digress). In short, Bendis is very hit or miss, with a lot of hits, but all those occurred where continuity was not needed. In cases that have a rich history in themselves, it's a train wreck (and not one of those cool train wrecks that make you stare for hours). I don't know if I can be optimistic about such news.
It's been fun.

It is a book he would do well on.

But I don't know if he is going to take over everything, but if I had to guess, then Yes he would because he is the golden boy of Marvel right now, that does mean most likely I would be dropping the X-books that I get because I am not a fan of people swooping in and taking over, maybe if it was a natural move and Aaron was done and that's why the slot is open I am fine, but if everyone but Bendis is out of X-men because Bendis demands it, then I'm out.

So my LCS hooked me up with a early copy of AvX#1

I am actually excited to read it early

AvX#0

There is no need to get this book at all, it has nothing to do with AvX other then showing that Hope is bored and brutal when she fights and that Wanda does not feel comfortable being back. So unless you want to see Vision be a condescending asshole you can skip the book.

AvX#1

I got an early copy of the book, and I am sure a few others here will as well, but this is going to be a Bendis event. Very much a Bendis even. JRJR's art was the best I have seen of his in a while, I didn't hate it so I am glad he made it look good, it was a very wordy issue and the action didn't start until the last page. I need to figure out how the augmented reality works because there were a few pages with the AR logo on it (I have a droid I am sure I won't be able to use it).

Trying to keep it spoiler free, but I do have faith in this event, it looks like it is going to be good, and the last 2 page spread makes me think that Avengers actually have a chance to take down the X-men, but I see Wolverine swapping sides over and over again.
