Chicago Comic Con 2012

Its a little early maybe to start but a little news coming out.

Expanded hours-Instead of "preview night" from 4-8 on Thursday Wizard is going all day from Noon to 8pm for all Weekend and VIP ticketholders. I like the idea of a whole day for advanced ticket people. Maaaaaaaybe they can add some panels in there and have some stuff go on when crowds and seats are still light.

Same ole same ole B/C list guests as usual however;
Every Star Trek Captain is going to be there, minus Patrick Stewart. Add him in and that would be something to have all 5 captains at once.

Davy Jones!!!! I'll have 3 of the 4 Monkees Autographs. Its a thrill for me.
Vic Mignogna from FullMetal Alchemist. Nice to see some anime love and I might have him sign my FMA tattoo and then ink it over.

I know I will attend. I have a booth again this year and it may be my last show there unless I get enough money together when i release my comic book in 2013. I would rather expand my opportunities than go to a show that caters actors and not comic book artists.

For the 1st time in over 15 years, I will NOT be attending this show. The ticket price increase combined with the lack of giving a flying fuck as to what people really want out of a comic convention have pretty much made my mind for me. Shame too, this show has turned to being my summer highlight to becoming my summer dread,

I get that they added a full day, and that the new Wizard convention crew has been doing good things from what I hear, but $70 is fucking ridiculous. I might make another day trip up to hang out with homies, but god damn.

I didn't know price went up until reading now. 70 bucks is a lot but it IS for 4 days. And its not like C2E2 tickets are much cheaper. A one day CCC is the same as a one day C2E2 ( and only 5 bucks more for Saturday). Makes getting a VIP pakage sound good again.

$70 gets you a 4-day pass to Gen Con which is a 24 hour convention in the heart of downtown Indianapolis where this is actually shit to do and go eat. Just sayin'. August 16 - 19!

Curious about what people think about the floorplan for CCC, trying to be subjective given peoples general thoughts about the wizard

Panels back to there normal place, dual photo op booths seemingly tucked away nice. Entrance is different and you dont have to push your way past c-lidt list celebs to get to Artist alley, which is really in a different place. Major (relatively speaking) celebs look to have designated lines so moving around might be better.

I believe I will be there this year, but I think I am only going to go one day this time, there hasn't been enough to keep me for more then one day the last few years.


The layout is nice, so maybe they are trying to fix their mistakes from the past.

I will have a booth somewhere all 4 day. If you want to swing by and say hi I am sure there will be time to chat. The extended hours on Thursday may or may not offer me that extra time to make money. Depends on how few people decide to show up due to increase ticket prices and lack of events and comic-related stuff. People will attend to buy their autographs, but pass on by the artist alley on the way to the bathroom.
