New Avengers #18

Meh. I liked it more that the Fear Itself crap, but honestly this didn't do much for me. I like Norman Osborn, but I couldn't care less about the New Dark Avengers.

Was Clint's brother being in Avengers Tower when it fell shown in any other book?

New Avengers #19

I liked this fine. The interaction between Daredevil and Squirrel Girl was great. And Spidey continuing to be suspicious of Victoria Hand is awesome.

The art is gorgeous.

I still don't care about the New Dark Avengers at all.

The DD and Squirrel Girl bit was hilarious. She's drooling over him and he's like uhhh how old are you lol. And it must suck to have super senses around a baby that just pooped.

Also liked the little back and forth between Gorgon and Madame Hydra. I hope Bendis includes more of those types of character moments and inner politicking with the villains in this story.

New Avengers #19

Holy crap! Norman Osborn has a Star Destroyer! Look at that thing.

Okay, there's on big thing that annoyed me this issue and I think it's going to come out next issue. I may be reading too much into it but I think for sure Daredevil detected that Victoria Hand was lying! He certainly was reacting to what she was saying - Bendis made sure we noticed that. So why didn't he say anything??!!!! I just don't accept that he wouldn't say anything first chance he got.

And now we know what Spidey always did and probably isn't that big a surprise - Victoria Hand is still working for Osborn. Surely.

As usual Spidey had some great lines. His goading of Victoria Hand is classic every time - "So how was lunch with Osborn?".

I swear that it has been said at some point that Victoria can beat any lie detector due to shield training, but if not that is a oversights. And of course Spider-Man was right, he is almost always right and no one pays attention to him.

New Avengers #20

This was my favorite issue in some time. I didn't think it was amazing, but I did enjoy it.

Luke Cage was a total bad ass in this issue. I loved that.

Luke saying "Avengers... whup his ass" and Spidey asking if that was their new catchphrase was really funny. I still love Bendis' Spider-Man. I'd love to see him write ASM after he's done on Avengers (though I doubt Slott will be leaving anytime soon).

Deodato's art was awesome as always.

I really liked how Daredevil took charge of the battlefield. He'd make a good leader for the team (or second in command since Luke is leader).

The two page spread of the New Avengers versus the New Dark Avengers was cool. It was like a video game.

There were so many great moments in issue 20.

The double page spread with the two groups running at each other and the "GO!" really reminded me of something out of the Scott Pilgrim movie.

Yup definitely one of the best issues in awhile. Luke was awesome. Spidey's one-liners were totally on point, had me laughing a few different times. Still loving Norman in this too. And Deodato's art continues to be top notch month after month.

Totally agree with you guys - best issue in ages. It's bugging me that Doctor Strange gets knocked out of action so early or seems to be quite ineffectual apart from getaways. I think part of the problem for Bendis here is that Doctor Strange is almost too powerful with what he can do and you have to get him out of the equation early or there's not much of a fight - which makes his presence almost unecessary. I don't know, I just don't think Bendis handles Strange very well but I don't think many writers have a good handle on magic wielding characters.

Just on Bendis on Spider-Man - it struck me also while reading this issue that the other franchise Bendis might sink his teeth into after Avengers (apart from X-Men) is Spider-Man. I really wouldn't be suprised. And, Bats, if Bendis wants Spider-Man I would think Dan Slott might not get much choice.

That sounds pretty true, and no matter how much I like USM, SLott is writing the best Spider-man I have read in years, and if BMB upserps that I would not be happy.

I am liking Osborns plan more, but it still seems a bit weak, other then the fact the population of the Marvel universe is full of morons.

We all hate the heroes for messing up our lives, and we think so because a guy who dressed up as a goblin and blew up my car with pumpkin bomb told us to think this way . Osborns end game seems really weak, and for the most part just messing with people because he can and that they are all idiots

But WOlverine tearing the hell out of the Thor-bot was just amazing.

Overall I really liked issue #21. The fight with Ragnarok was really cool. I love the dynamics of this team. Spidey telling Iron Fist to "fist him" was great. And I really loved the part where Spidey was catching Daredevil and he tells him to "go limp" and DD just yells back "I know". I don't know why, but that was one of my favorite moments in the issue.

I do have to say that I find the stupidity of the people in the Marvel Universe to be staggering. They're protesting people who are putting their lives on the line to protect them? Seriously?! I could see them blaming the government for not keeping the super villains check, but to blame the people stopping the criminals is just dumb. Would they rather let the super villains run wild?

Deodato's art was fantastic.

Same here lol. I guess it just shows how Spidey and Daredevil work well together, and DD's veteran knowledge of superheroing.

I see what you're saying but I sort of understand their frustrations. Half of New York is blown up on like a weekly basis so I could see regular people eventually being up in arms about it and channeling their anger at the world's most famous superheroes. Their homes, businesses, etc. keep getting destroyed and they probably have no reason why. All they see are super-people in the middle of it all every time.

It's the Norman Osborn part in this that is annoying me a little. I could go along with it when he started HAMMER, etc the first time around but this time I just can't see that people should be so accepting of him.

#21 was a fun issue. I know it's only January but surely "Fist him" is going to be line of the year!

That is my issue as well with this arc, but the more I think about it, it is basically fear mongering. Nothing more then that, Norman is doing more with fear then Fear Itself did. But his plan is pretty weak overall.

And yes "Fist Him" Line of the year

I have to say that not only do I love Spidey's "Fist him" line, but I love the fact that Iron Fist was just standing there and Spidey webbed him and hurled him at Ragnarok and then said that. I'd go so far as to say that that whole sequence is one of my favorites in years.

Bendis just writes a phenomenal Spider-Man. Spidey's dynamic with Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke, and Wolverine is just fantastic.

I really enjoyed issue #22. I absolutely LOVED Spidey's "tell him I said sup'". It actually got me laughing so hard that I had to set the book down for a minute.

Yeah definitely good stuff. I like that Victoria Hand turned out to be on Cap's side all along (at least for now). Seems like Skaar is Cap's ace too! That was nice to see because I never felt like he belonged there. I wonder what the heck's going on with Norman and his powers though.

I think that he had the SHIELD doc that swapped sides give him fake powers of all the Avengers. I am loving New Avengers still the team writing is just fantastic.

Regular Avengers well....

My biggest issue is I didn't know if I should have read New or Vanilla Avengers fist today. I dislike cross over stories that don't tell you what order to read them in. I assume this is first.

Yeah seems like it's something like that. And, yeah, still enjoying this more than regular Avengers.

Looks like everything is going to fall apart for Osborn shortly. Cap's got a plan and Osborn's own people have their own plans that don't include Osborn either.

New Avengers #24

I actually quite enjoyed this issue. I feel like the Luke and Jessica issue really needed to be addressed and I think the way Bendis wrote it was well done - felt very natural. I've got to agree with Jessica that the life they were living is no life for a child. The prepartion for the fight with the X-Men was good too although I still struggle to see what Red Hulk is doing on that time and why everyone just accepts him - personally I'd be telling him to shut the hell up if he was yelling that stuff at me.

I think everyone listens to him because Capetian America has basically made him his lieutenant and I think they know he has a military background.

I did dig the issue, but I still don't think the Avengers have much of a chance unless it is just against the Utopia X-men, even if Magneto and Emma can more or less take down most of the Avengers solo.
