I was thinking about dropping this book, but now I have to buy it. Bendis writing Daredevil again = awesome!

New Avengers #13

I still don't care for the 1959 stuff. I'm glad we only saw it a couple of times this issue.

Deodato's art is just fantastic. I'm glad he's on the book.

I really wish that Hawkeye and Spider-Woman were on this team.

I don't care for what they did to Mockingbird. I hope she doesn't start developing super powers.

I can't wait until the Fear Itself crap is over and Daredevil joins the team.

I thought that issue 13 was a solid ending to a lackluster arc. The pacing was a lot better than what we've been seeing in recent issues.

While I enjoyed this issue more than the last few, in particular for the interrogation scenes, I didn't think it was that great. One problem I have is that I think the 1959 stuff and its link to the current story was so poorly constructed and telegraphed. I think it could actually have been done in a 6 or 7 page flashback in an earlier issue without being dragged out issue after issue. Anyway, I guess dragging things out is Bendis's modus operandi at the moment.

One thing I did like - I love that we can't be sure who's side Victoria Hand is on. I think it's leaning towards HAMMER, particularly with that note to Superia at the end, but we can't be certain Hand isn't playing Superia. I love that stuff!

And I did like the scene where they got attacked on the rooftop - that was pretty well done.

Wow that cover really was just absolutely NOT a scene from within the comic.

So Bendis's latest thing is these talking head interview pages. He really does like his gimics and this one, to me, is a mistake. I think he's completely wasting Deodato's skills with these pages plus using up space for story.

Not sure whether Spidey actually left the team or not. There was some conversation we weren't privy to involving Wolverine and Luke Cage (which I'm sure we'll find out about at a later stage) and then I'm unsure about whether he's ended up leaving or not. I suspect they've put him on some mission to confirm what Victoria Hand is up to (she really does like the sexy secretary look).

So Mockingbird is powered up now. Not sure I really care.

New Avengers #14

I actually quite liked this issue. I'm sure a lot of that had to do with the fact that the 1959 crap is finally over. That felt like it went on forever.

I just LOVE Spidey's FF suit, and I'm glad to see it here. I hope he adopts it permanently for this book. I also hope he's not gone. I don't think he is though. I have a feeling the conversation between him, Wolverine, and Luke was about how they don't trust her either and they were trying to get him to stay and how they plan to expose her.

I love Iron Fist's new costume, but I'm still annoyed as hell that it was never explained how he got it.

I'm not too thrilled about Mockingbird getting powers, but at least they aren't too great. It seems like she'll be just a step below Steve Rogers and I can live with that I guess. Now, I'm curious, does Fury have to keep taking the Infinity Formula or was it a one time deal? I'm just curious to know so I can gauge the effect the formula Bobbi took will have on her.

Deodato's art is just gorgeous.

Squirrel Girl! I loved this. Now she can add kicking Wolverine's ass to her long list of impressive power feats.

I really enjoyed this. Outside of Bendis using her I've never read anything with Squirrel Girl in it (at least to my recollection). I really liked her here. Deodato's art is just gorgeous. Oh, and I still LOVE LOVE LOVE Spidey's FF suit.

Yeah, fun issue. DIdn't mind it at all.

I didn't really like Wolverine beating Iron Fist in a fight though. My view is that Iron Fist would be the better martial artist/fighter. Nothing against Wolvy but that's Iron Fist's thing and I think it degrades him a bit to be beaten like that.

Agree that Iron Fist would be a better pure martial artist than Wolverine, heck he might be the best in comics pound for pound, but this was more like a friendly sparring match so I wouldn't put too much stock in it. Plus there was a "no claws, no fists" stipulation...not to mention Danny saying he was going at a 3.

Actually it was the fact that it was a friendly sparring match that made me say that. I'd see Iron Fist winning that kind of match every time - hands down. I think Danny was pretty embarassed anyway so that's probably a real reaction! Just another case, I guess, of Wolverine having to be better than everyone else even if it doesn't totally make sense.

He is the Batman of Marvel, he wins all the time no matter what, thats the rule.

Plus they needed to have Squirrel Girl beat up someone, and she suddenly has the psudo history with Logan so who better

But really Danny should have schooled him powers or no because of training, it was just silly, one of those things that can kill a story for me.

New Avengers Annual#1

I enjoyed this. It was a pretty standard story/brawl, but it was good. I wasn't too into the art. It was kind of messy/muddy at points.

I really liked Paul Dini's article/letter in the back. I'd never read that before.

I do think they should have noticed this and maybe not print the 9/11 stuff in this issue.

New Avengers Annual #1

This was good. I think Bendis did a good job of laying down Wonder Man's reasons for being pissed at the Avengers and wanting them disbanded. Maybe some of the other "Revengers" motivations should have been touched on too though because I don't really see why some of them would be there. Also, D-Man!

That is kinda awkward but I probably wouldn't even have noticed had it not been pointed out to me. It's a random shot of a fictional building, I don't think it warrants much controversy to be honest.

Same thoughts as you. I really liked this issue - for a standard fight it was done pretty well. Also showed that if you take anyone by suprise they are very vulnerable - that being said, Wonder Man's team has some pretty significant firepower on it. I agree, though, we needed to see the motivations of the rest of Wonder Man's team - I can't really buy that his little speech at the beginning was enough to convince them to come on board so why are they all doing it?

I didn't mind the art - I like Dell'otto's style.

I thought the annual was very well done and a good read. Very standard first meet up fight, and the Nw Avengers had to go down or the "true" Avengers fight would have no weight. I have to say I alway thought that Ms Marvel was a high power then Wonder Man but that goes back to my original thought.

Also Iron Fist and Squirrel Girl were gone so that explain how the Revengers won.

I'm sure Iron Fist was there - he just didn't figure much in the fight. I actually thought it was pretty reasonable the Revengers won that fight (even without the plotting reasons you rightly point out) - they've got some real heavy hitters - however I think Thing probably went down a bit too easy. I can definintely buy Wonder Man beating Ms Marvel though - he is an absolute powerhouse.

It looks like we've got to wait a while for the next part of this as the Avengers annual doesn't come out until at least December which is kind of a big gap.

It's at least December. I know there's no Avengers Annual (unless I'm missing it in Previews) in September, October or November. It seems kind of silly.

New Avengers #16

I liked this issue. It was nice to see Daredevil save the day (and join the team), and the art was great. That said, I'm so sick of the Fear Itself tie-in crap. The format of the talking heads doing an interview with some (silent) action story also going on is more than old. The tie ins are over for this book now, right? I know the next issue to come out is the point one issue ( ), but I'm not sure about after that.

Agreed that the Revengers team is stacked. And Wonder Man is often underestimated but you're right he's a total powerhouse.
