Now if they had an Earth 2 which was the Silver Age DC characters but older, just like the original Earth 2 was the Golden Agers that would be cool.
Agreed one million percent. With everything else being so different, couldn't this one thing be sort of the same?

Yeah, but it would have been a perfect way to utilize him. This seems like a wasted opportunity here.

I really liked this issue. It was pretty good and set-up things nicely.

I still don't understand why they couldn't have kept this book more traditional as a sort of counterpoint to the refresh going on in the main DCU. I kind of always liked the links to WWII and the old timers on the JSA.

Jherek Carnelian wrote:I liked it well enough. Kinda scary seeing the Big Three die. So the JSA are gonna be the replacements for Earth 2's JLA? That's fresh. I loved Hermes turning up and the whole link to the Roman pantheon was cool, reminded me of Kingdom Come, I wish somehow Earth 2's Jay Garrick looked more like Hermes.

Going with the theory of trying to appeal to a new audience, (USA) kids/teens today have no connection to WW2 anymore. For most of us, it was something our parents remembered and maybe even had some family who fought in the war. Nowadays, it's just something in history books. The most recent war the new generation may connect with is the Gulf War. So I can understand DC trying to do something different with the JSA's origins.
