Batman & Robin

Eternal Crisis of the Pantsless Superheroes. Like them or hate, crises are a big part of the DCU. You can discuss them alongside books like Secret Six and other events like Green Lantern: Blackest Night.

Batman & Robin #11

Great stuff. Damian confronting all the Robins is just awesome. I think that of all the Robins Damian has the most in common with Jason, so seeing them together is interesting.

I thought it was good as well. My guess is that when he confronts Nightwing, he's going to bring up the fact that he was supposed to be a Talon and thusly a killer like Damian. Somehow, I see a different outcome though in this confrontation. I'm looking forward to it.

Batman and Robin #12
What a great way to end this issue. I liked how Batman solved this although it smelled a bit like the ending of the Dark Knight Rises but it was still cool. I liked how all of the former sidekicks came back to help at the end and there is a panel with all of the former Robins along with the current one that is amazing. I also like the interaction with Nightwing and Damian and what Nightwing had to say to the current boy wonder. Great issue.

The panel with the Robins was indeed a nice touch.

To me, it was the panel of the week.

I think the Terminus story ended rather quickly. As with Nightwing (the book) I feel that the #0 issue is the culprit. I know they wanted to wrap up the story for that issue.

The Robins stuff was great though. And that panel with all the Robins wasn't just the panel of the week for me, it was the panel of the year.

A nice Damian origin story. I really liked seeing this character evolve from birth to his first encounter with Bruce. It was very interesting and for some reason, I can't believe that Talia would let Damian call her what he did as a toddler. It was very interesting.

There was nothing wrong with issue #13, but honestly, it didn't do a whole lot for me.

The best part was the beginning with the nice father/son moment between Damian and Bruce. It was very nice.

Batman & Robin #14

This did almost nothing for me. It felt like filler. I was bored reading it.

I might have been overly tired when I read it, but I didn't get the ending. Bruce is upset with Damian and then Damian show's him he has one of his mother's pearls and all is okay? That confused me.

This was a great issue. Loved the showdown between Damian and Joker. I was not all that fond of how this new look Joker was drawn here though. I think he has been done better in Batgirl #15. It's not horrible here but just looks weird when compared to what you see in the main Batman book. Having said that, I still enjoyed the issue and looking forward to the next one.

Batman and Robin #15

This really didn't do anything for me. My interest in this book has plummeted over the last few issues. I honestly just don't care anymore. That makes me sad.

As much as I am enjoying this story arc, I am a continuity OCD victim. I would like to see a time frame map showing exactly when these issues take place. Other than that, I think everyone involved with this crossover going above and beyond the expectations.

The annual didn't seem like it was something that I really cared about, so I decided to skip it. I'm pretty close to dropping the book altogether. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I'm fairly sure that I won't be getting the next issue.

Batman and Robin Annual #1
I really liked this issue. Now, to start off, this is a character issue with a little bit of action. The plot of the story is that Damian sends Bruce on a sort of scavanger hunt of Bruce's past. There are some really nice moments in here and you can see that Damian has really grown as a detective who can do research. The cover plays a part in the story and it makes for a cool adventure. There are great character interactoins between Alfred and Bruce and some overall great interactoins. It's not a essential read but it's still a very nice story and only makes me like Damian more.

I loved this annual! I thought there were some great moments in this story especially the painting, as someone who's read a lot of Batman over the years that was one of the first times I actually could feel that Bruce was surprised and touched. I also thought this issue was pretty funny I was reading it while my wife was getting an ultrasound and I just kept laughing at Damien my wife thought I was laughing at her. I loved the interactions between the characters and I hope other writers show this side of Damien more often.

I really really disliked issue #17. Once again, I thought it was a complete waste of time, so much in fact that I regret buying it. I HATE dream stories. I'm 97% sure I'm done with this book.

Batman and Robin #17
I am on the complete opposite side of John Michael on this one. I loved seeing the aftermath of the Death in the Family story in this way. Everyone in this issue was damaged and because of that, they are having bad dreams. I thought the dreams were interesting and telling and I loved the ending of the issue itself. It was so good. I am loving the dynamic of Bruce and Damian and Alfred is just a great touch. I loved it. So good.

Depending on what happens to Damian down the road, I will be dropping one of these books. Batman and Robin or Batman. Not sure which one yet. Might wind up doing both but I just want to see where this stuff goes. for now.

I don't want to spoil anything for anyone cause I don't know how widespread the news is, but I wanted to know how people feel about the upcoming changes to this book?

Spoiler Alert!!!

The death of Damien Wayne. I hate that they are doing this. I will admit that I hated the character when he was first introduced but over the years he has really grown on me. I love the idea of this kid learning to value life and growing closer to his dad. I really hate to see him go and was looking forward to seeing more stories of him one day donning the cape and cowl.
