Batgirl

Eternal Crisis of the Pantsless Superheroes. Like them or hate, crises are a big part of the DCU. You can discuss them alongside books like Secret Six and other events like Green Lantern: Blackest Night.

I hear you but I think with this altered history we may seem some different dynamics to this story which could give it a fresh take. Also, you have Gail Simone writing this and I think she can knock a James Jr. story out of the park in her sleep.

Oh I think it'll be great. It was just this odd feeling in the back of my mind as I read it ;)

Sure, I get that. I loved the James Jr. story we got from Scott Snyder with Dick Grayson as Batman but I think as we get stories with this character, the more I want to see him in future stories as well.

Batgirl #9
I liked this issue. It was neat to see how Barbara didn't know what was going on until she got Alfred's message. I thought it was interesting that she recognized the way the talon moved and how it reminded her of someone. The overall action was really nice and the art was very good. Looking forward to seeing the next issue.

Gail did a good job in #9 of distilling the Night of the Owls down for anyone like me who's not reading the other Batbooks. The signal bit was hella cool, too.

Batgirl #10
This was yet another amazing issue. I really like Gail's writing overall and I love how she develops characters and introduces new characters like this new group of vigilantes. I'm curious about this new group and I hope when all is said and done, they will be sticking around to cause Batgirl and the rest of the Bat-Family some trouble. Loved this issue and can't wait for more.

#10 was one of the best issues since the relaunch. Everything about it clicked.

It really did. The only thing that dawned on me that wasn't explored but I guess it will later on, we don't know what happened with Barbara's roommate and James Gordon Jr.

Batgirl #11
This was an intense issue. I love seeing a more confident Barbara do her thing as Batgirl. This new group is something that I feel has bee done before but under the creative control of Gail Simone, it's still a very interesting group and very interesting characters. I had almost forgotten about James Gordon Jr. until this issue and wow! I have a bad feeling about this. I liked the interaction between Batgirl and Detective McKenna. I also liked getting more background about the character. I really hope at some point, these two will develop a relationship that might be similar to what Bruce and Jim have. As for the ending of the issue? OH MAN! I can't wait for #12. Well done.

Eh, I'm not a huge fan of Benes. I don't dislike his stuff, it's just a little too cheesecakey for my tastes.

Batgirl #12
Another good issue. The fight between Batgirl and Batwoman was not what I thought it was going to be but that's fine. The battle with Knightfall has been very interesting and of course the scene with Jim Gordon finding out about his son was very cool. I didn't expect the ending of this issue to go the way it did but I guess we'll have to wait until 13 for the resolution. I liked this.

See, I hate that. It always annoys me when the writer is forced to set aside the current story in order to accommodate a crossover or a line-wide event. I'm not saying I don't want the story that will be in #0 to be told, but forcing Gail to interrupt the current story because all the books are doing a zero issue sucks. Of course, there is the possibility she was expecting it and wrote it accordingly (Barbara flashing back to events after being stabbed by Knightfall, for example), but that "next issue" blurb didn't give me much hope. We'll just have to wait to see next month.

I think I'm even more irked because after taking a little time to find its legs (HAR!), the Knightfall arc is the best the book's been yet. #12 was great, I loved Bab's interaction with Batwoman, and the art team was firing on all cylinders. I'm gonna miss Syaf & Cifuentes once they've left.

Unless the #0 issue will somehow come into play with both the previous and following issue, it kind of bums me out that the #0 issue is going to in a way halt the progress of the current story a bit. Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to seeing the new 52 origin of Barbara but I am really digging this story and don't want to see it interrupted for it either.

I liked the mini origins of Knightfalls henchmen. I also agree with Rob in saying that I am hoping that the #0 issue will have some kind of framing sequence with Babs flashing back. The one thing really bugging me about this is that it is pretty clear that in this new universe that she never was Oracle which is a shame, I hope the zero issue proves me wrong.
