What makes you a Fangirl? The fact that 95% of my life is filtering what I say because I know no one else around me will understand it or care.. Cons are the only place where I can speak freely
What’s one of your earliest Fangirl memories? When I was about 12 I’d learned several different phrases in Elvish.. I didn’t know I was a nerd back then.. I thought I was cool.. Still do
What are your current Fangirl obsessions? Skyrim and it’s DLC, Dawnguard. Game of Thrones, New 52 Aquaman.
What’s the most Fangirl-ish thing you’ve ever done? Once at karaoke (which I do every Saturday) my friend/boss was asking around the table about the [then] upcoming Spider-Man movie. When he asked me who the new Spider-Man was I immediately said “Miles Morales”. It wasn’t until he looked at me like I was a complete headcase that I realized what I’d said.
What is your biggest geek-out moment? I never once thought that I would ever be starstruck by a celebrity, even one that I admired. But at CCC 2010 I met Brent Spiner. I was so starstruck in fact that I cut in the huge line without thinking and walked right up to him. He signed a picture for me and we talked for a bit. Well he talked… I was too stunned to talk much. In fact, I had to make him stop talking so I could walk away so he wouldn’t see me tear up. Yes, I was so excited that I started to cry. And I got shit for it for days…
What’s your wildest Fangirl dream? I don’t have any wild dreams, really. I like being part of a big project. I want to do so many things I guess my brain can’t focus on just one. But I’d like to be an artist for a comic, or a writer maybe. I’d even like to do voice acting in video games and help design them.
Other than that I’m in the process of writing (or trying to) songs for a demo to promote my singing. I’d love to be known for my voice one day. Singing is one thing I do for myself and no one else. It elevates my mood and makes me feel like I can rule the world. And when people have a good time while I’m having a good time it makes it so much better.
Speaking of video game designs… Yeah, I customize controllers. It’s just a fun little hobby, painting (usually nerdy) images on X-Box controllers. I also love painting Warhammer figurines!
How has being a Fangirl affected other aspects of your life? It hasn’t really. I’ve been this way my whole life so, besides being obviously a nerd compared to other people, it’s the same as it’s always been. I never did makeovers as a little girl, I played Super Mario; still do.
No makeovers as a little girl, but now that you’re all grown up you’ve taken to a different kind of makeover. That’s true… I have 4 fangirl-y tattoos; 5 if you count that one is split in half down my feet. That one is a tribal butterfly from my favorite romance novel series The Lords of The Underworld. One on my calf which is a girly version of the logo for Forte, a character Junkle created for a comic we’re writing together called Family Dischord. It’s streets ahead. The one on my wrist is simple – I’m The Fifth Element. And finally, my favorite. I have a large flaming dragon egg on my back for my deep passion for Game of Thrones. It was designed by the magnificent and wonderful Michael Champion.
HEY! I know him! So… where can people find you online? Honestly, I’m really not online much. Between working and trying to record my demo I just don’t care to get online. Facebook is about it for me.
